Today I had to visit the birth center in Chapel Hill for my check-up after having the baby. There is a small little boutique that is kind of part of the birth center which we checked out afterwards.
Its interesting how much things have changed even since Azita’s birth. Available were stainless steel bottles, something I hadn’t seen when looking online at different types of bottles a few years ago with Azi. There were also glass ones, which I had seen, and several different types of plastic. Of course, all the plastic ones now say “BPA Free”.
A few years ago, no one was really worried about BPAand thus we were all feeding our babies with bottles that had them in it. Which is funny, because back then Azita drank out of a bottle a minimum of three days a week since I was still finishing my degree, and now Ada will probably take a bottle maybe once a week, because I am home so much more with her. But that’s just how things go.
I’ve also heard that when you manufacture breastmilk, it draws on your fat stores, where pesticides and chemicals that I either breathe in or consume in my food are stored. So the first kid gets all that stuff, while by the time the second one comes around, your breastmilk will have less stuff in if you attempt to limit your exposure to chems and eat organic and all that good stuff.
And the three years before I became pregnant with my first kid, I worked for a personal contractor and sign company and breathed in way more than my fair share of paints and fumes.
So I guess Azita got shafted with the chems in breastmilk and the BPA bottles! Oh well, she’ll get back at Ada somehow I’m sure. She’s pretty headstrong.
