Ah, hello my poor little neglected blog.
There have been many good food posts I could have made this month. With the holidays coming up, we’ve been seeing how different things come out. I think we’ve decided to host Thanksgiving, or at least it will be close by at me or P’s mom’s house.
It’s more work to host it, but probably less work than trying to figure out all the ingredients in the foods and inconvenience everyone. Not that I think anyone in our families really thinks its a big deal to try to accomodate our dietary stuff, but so much is coming up allergenic for Ada, its probably just easier to handle it ourselves. If we make the Turkey and two sides and a dessert, and every one else brings something, I know I’ll be well fed and happy.
We’ve made mashed potatoes with coconut milk and palm shortening (a non-hydrogenated alternative) for butter. Very good.
And I made a pumpkin pie with a crust made out of food processed pumpkin seeds, dates, and dried cherries. Press it all in a pie plate, no need to pre-bake. Pumpkin seed crust with pumpking pie. I thought that was interesting. It tasted good. When I make it again, I’ll try to actually make a post with pictures and a more exact recipe. I ate it for breakfast the next day.
Now I want to go make one! Housework first.
