Sometimes the universe is just working to help you. We went to the children’s garden this morning and since Ada has a had a stomach virus, I told Azita we can’t be there for very long. We have this habit of ending up there until 2 p.m. bceause the kids are having such a good time. I wanted to be home by 12:30.
Ada has been napping regularly around 1 for several hours. Never saw that coming, but maybe its because she’s been sick.
We got home at 12:30, indeed, but not without some drama.
Around 11:30 I was getting Azita to leave with some resistance. She had been having a great time in the dirt pit. Then she just started yelling that she’d been bit and crying. Azita can get a bit… hysterical is probably too strong a word, but she is hard to calm down when she is hurt. She tries to hide it from you instead of letting you help because she is so scared that what you do will make it worse.
She was just screaming and we were washing off her legs because she was covered in dirt and she would be fine and then just scream that it hurt worse again. It might have been a sting, from the way she was acting. I got her in the car and told her we’d stop and get her a special cream, because I knew that would calm her down.
As we pulled into Walgreen’s she said, “Maybe they will have Hello Kitty Band-Aids on sale so we can buy them.”
You might remember the post on Band-Aids. She’s been begging for Hello Kitty ever since she used all her Dora and she has to wait until she uses all the ‘plain, normal ones’.
Well….. Walgreen’s had Hello Kitty ones, on sale! So I grabbed the calamine lotion, the band-aids, and was thinking that I really need to get a small first aid kit for the car. They had one. Fifty percent off. I got two.
And the calamine lotion? The branded one had propylparaben and artificial fragrance and junk in it. The Walgreen’s one for $3.99 had calamine and bentonite clay, the natural clay that I wanted to use but don’t have any. It us awesome for soothing skin.
And it was pink. Azita got pink lotion with a special band-aid. She’s probably happy she got stung.
