Azita is up with the sun and typically in her best moods in the morning. Ada loves to stay up late and sleep late, and fights nap time. When Azita was two, she could fall asleep too late to nap for many kids– at 4 pm. Sleep until 7 and still go back to bed about at the usual time. Ada fights to keep herself awake, crashes at 4 pm, and then stay up until midnight! Or at least tries to. And this in a dark room for 2 and a half hours. She finds a way to occupy herself.
To this day, Azita takes more energy to parent. She wants to be in constant contact with me or her dad. She wants to always be playing with someone, save TV time. She was sick this week and when she has a fever (which she did for three days. I do not believe in lowering the fever, but in letting it do its work and get her healthy again) was the only time she is so lethargic as to be easy to watch. Now that she’s halfway better, she’s all over me again.
Ada, on the other hand, is clingy now that she *is* sick. And quite independant the rest of the time. She is in a great mood at night, and a cranky pants when waking up from naptime or in the morning. If she does fall asleep too late to nap, it is worth it to let her sleep until 7 and then be up late, because if you try to wake her up, you will have a crying, clingy, unhappy child to deal with.
They eat differently too. Ada loves meat. It’s almost a shame, from someone who at least used to tend to go on the vegetarian side! When she was having such a hard time with her health and weight, and really thriving on lamb, I didn’t worry about it. Now I have to tell her that the meat is all done and make her choose some vegetables or fruit, or she’ll eat and eat and eat.
She’s always been a great eater, just adoring food. Ironic, isn’t it, that she was the one that need the so-called “restricted” diet. Azita could easily be a vegeterian. And she comes up with crazy food combinations. Like one of those people that start a company selling salmon-ginger ice cream, and chipotle popcorn with peppermint flavoring. Azita loves treats, and making a special food is a big deal for her.
Ada just wants meat. Those two are hilarious.
